Arts & Energy

Monster Lily encourages you to use multiple weapons & magic shards instead of just relying on one or two. Most Arts require energy - even some weapons! When you kill a monster, you get energy back, multiplied by the number of equipped arts. More arts, more energy.

Tactical Survival

Monster Lily rewards creativity. Mix weapons, shards, and strange powers - even the less dignified kind - to survive impossible odds. Here's just a brief example of nearly 100 unique items & abilities:
  • Use a Door Toy to create a locked door, useful for escaping or trapping a horde of monsters.
  • Drink fluids that impart special powers, such as Ogre, Faerie, and Shadow.
  • Wield a Battle Fan, dealing more damage as you dance around your enemies.
  • Try the Claw, which multiplies damage with sustained hits.
  • Or, if all else fails… unleash your bladder.

Checkpoints, Scoring

Monster Lily is hard, especially early game when there aren't many resources available. Don't give up! Every 8 levels offers a checkpoint, along with a scoring system that rewards skillful play. To see the true ending, you’ll have to make it to the end without a single death.

Smooth Walk System

Monster Lily aims to have a relaxing control system. Instead of pressing a key for every step you take, just hold a button down and walk smoothly.

Combat

Combat, like the rest of Monster Lily, is all about tactics. Success in battle depends on positioning, instincts, and seizing every chance for extra damage.

The combat system is inspired by classic dice-based RPGs.
  • When you melee attack an enemy, your chance to hit is based on a 1d20 roll, plus your HIT stat. If this equals or exceeds the monster's AC, you hit! Defending works the same way but reverse the roles.
  • Additionally a roll of 1 is always a 'miss', while a roll of 20 is always a 'hit'.
  • Throws work a bit differently, Lily's throws always hit. (She’s a Melonblood — they never miss throws!)
  • Attacks on unaware or stunned enemies deal double damage.
